LUCIA SECCHI

Graduate Architect

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself, Lucia Secchi, and tell you a little about my passion, architecture and design, my career and goals.

I am a Graduate in Architecture (2011) from "La Sapienza" University of Rome, Faculty of Architecture, with a final grade of 105/110 (equivalent to First Class Honours). The final year of my degree included the preparation of a thesis project, which involved development of a regional master-plan and challenging held belief that one can increase the volume of a medium density by 20% through architectural design.

I am currently enjoying working with J O H Architects in Brunswick. With J O H, I have been challenged creatively through all stages of projects, from initial sketch through to detailed construction drawings to on-site fit out. J O H design high end residential property and has taught me to understand and interpret client’s desires, no matter how challenging! I have enjoyed my time working side by side with Christian, the owner and director of J O H.

Prior to working with J O H Architects, I had the pleasure of working with Simon Greenwood Architects. With Simon, I had the opportunity to advance my skills by designing residential apartments, student housing, and child care facilities. One challenge I faced and enjoyed was designing within the limits of heritage overlays, which are in contrast with my experience in my homeland - Italy.

I arrived in Australia following the economic crisis in Italy. I chose to move to Australia on a working holiday Visa and travel across the continent, in search for inspiration and stimulating opportunities. I was fortunate enough to continue my career progression with Scarborough Architects in Melbourne. During my time with Scarborough Architects, I had the opportunity to follow project from start to finish, being involved in site visits, client meetings, design progress, and compliance monitoring. I also had the opportunity to utilise Revit to complete rendering projects.

I'm experienced in interior design, conservation heritage, visual design and illustrations, and I have a professional knowledge of AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Sketchup, V-Ray, Revit and Adobe Photoshop.

I'm an enthusiastic career driven individual that is seeking a position that is both challenging and interesting, giving me the opportunity to improve and expand my existing skills set. I am exceptionally hard working with a willingness to learn, try new things and challenge the conventional.
